Las luchas agrarias en Durango.

Abstract

From 1920 to 1940 in the state of Durango, as in all of Mexico, land disputes resulted in peasant movements which created sufficient social unrest to threaten the governments of that time. In the mid-thirties, in response to the peasant groups which demanded radical re-distribution of the land, the government induced the formation of corporate organizations which both attenuated the peasants' demands and kept them within controllable bounds. Thus the National Peasant Confederation (Confederaci6n Nacional de Cam¬pesinos-cNc) was born.
