Abstract

This research focuses on the subjective analysis of poverty. The data that was used corresponds to a survey applied to 89 families of Huehuetla, which is considered, according to official data, as one of the poorest and most marginalized municipalities of Puebla. The document discloses a self-classification of householders about whether their household is poor or not; furthermore it shows what variables have an influence over this condition. The factors that showed significance in the perception of poverty were: families with migratory experience, with problems that limit the formal education of their children, involved in participatory processes and those that have several jobs (moonlighting). Therefore the perception about their living conditions does not depend exclusively on the income.
