Introducción al libro de Marc Bloch Souvenirs de guerre.
Abstract
Aymard does not pass over the importance and the influence the two World Wars had on Marc Bloch. The humanist's observance on the battle fields gives way to writing. Bloch takes notes, annotations, reflections, ... and writes again: he lives and writes his war. On the other hand, beside his comrades-in-arms, he feels proud to be a brave poilu (French soldier). However, it is in the present where Bloch finds the rationale necessary for the historian, as it is precisely the historian's task to describe and study life in order to communicate it with the past "with all the necessary critical prudence".
