Abstract

This article presents the results of qualitative research with medicine students. The categories of analysis are: professional practice, doctor-patient relationships, interprofessional relations, scientific and technical knowledge, symbols, values and professional representations. Expressions were classified according to these categories and they are related with discourse that allows one to understand professional values that build the criteria for liberal medical practice. Dominant criteria of doctor-patient relationships are exposed, based on the professional prestige and professional status criteria.
