Abstract

The main argument of this work is the one that talks about Fernand Braudel’s work and its relationship with the time; it doesn’t give us a concept of it. Braudel’s work refers to the rhythm of the time; it talks about the different speed in the historical process. It is aware of its multidimensional form, but reduces it to three dimensions (slow time, long term, fast time). Norbert Elias, on the other hand, has a more solid conception of the time, which never refers to three forms. He understands the time like a symbol of social coordination (macrocosms) and personal self regulation (microcosms). This implies to rescue the multiple experiences of the time in the social and the individual level. Eventhough the differences between Braudel and Elias, I think they are comple mentary of each other to understand the difficult problem of the historical time like the methods to start historical researches.
