Abstract

The action of the Mexican Communist Party (PCM) during the year 1968 has been evaluated from various testimonies of student representatives. An extensive literature in recent years has sought to unravel the role of the communist organization in that year. As part of this process, what is proposed here is to capture the reception of the events of 1968 in two of the cultural forms of the communist intellectual tradition: the magazines Historia y Sociedad and Nueva época. Both magazines were spaces of expression of the consequences, both in its national dimension –definitively establishing the criticism of the Mexican Revolution– and in the global one –in its critical position of the invasion of Prague–, showing a moment of inflection in the political culture of the communists.
