El fracaso de la teoría económica convencional

Abstract

In terms of accumulation, growth and stability, the failure of the neoliberal model in Mexico has been complete. Starting from this premise, the author inquires as to the ideological spectrum which has served to rationalize such a model. The origins, in this writer's opinion, can be found in the model of general equilibrium developed following Walras. The author then proceeds to a critical exposition of the principal aspects of said paradigm. The essay, which avoids mathematical formulas, concludes with the claim that the model usually limits itself to metaphysical statements (i.e. not empirically verifiable) and has an explicative capacity which is practically null. Its functions are clearly apologetic and, lor that very reason, it turns out to be disasterous as a guide lor growth policies, unless 01 course it isn't growth but rather stagnation and unemployment which are implicitly being sought.
