América Latina y la crisis de los años ochenta
Abstract
For Latin America the decade of the '80s was marked by recession, hyperinflation and most notably by over indebtedness and the consequent inability to pay, a situation which seriously affected the standard of living of the population. In this article the context which preceded the crisis is analyzed, along with the effects of the new policies (of neoliberal stripe) which were implemented in order to emerge from the crisis. Finally, the author observes that the model is highly vulnerable because it depends on foreign investment and has created new and serious distorsions at enormous social cost.
