Sus estrategias de persuasión política.
Abstract
The TV special "Analysis of the Debate" (channel 2, Televisa), televised 12 May 1994, moments after the conclusion of the first formal debate among presidential candidates in Mexico's history, constituted without doubt a significant factor in the formation of public opinion. Through the examination of the mecanisms of its mise-en-scene and an analysis of the argument structure of the comments of the guest panelists -eontextualized with respect to the historical moment and the principal actors and social events- this article reveals the political persuasion strategies used in the program. Most notable are those mecanisms aimed at 'faire-croire vrai' ('making us believe in the truth') of democracy, participation and equality, as well as those which produce an ideological justification of the policies of the Salinas administration .
