Mujeres detrás del delito
Estudio en el Cereso de Chiapas, México.
Abstract
This work considers feminine delinquency as a social phenomenon and examines the penitientiary system as maintaining traditional gender roles and social inequalities with severe consequences for women. The authors worked in the jail of Cerro Hueco, Chiapas (Mexico), with a group of incarcerated women. They reflected on cultural determinants and gender stereotypes that created rigid and paralyzing signifiers. Finally, through widening their repertoire and the resignation of their life experience, they constructed new more dignifying narratives, as well as more just and satisfying life projects.
