Abstract

In this article, the main considerations in the definition and formulation of sustentability indicators are critically reviewed. The article starts with the importance of development evaluation and quantification through indicators, used not only as descriptive tools of the condition of an environmental resource but also as a guideline for decision making of productive resources. This article presents arguments and examples to evaluate the relationship between society and the environment.
