This article reviews Bolivar Echeverria's invaluable contributions to the elaboration of a critical non euro-centrist theory. Gandler says that, despite the limitations of Echeverria's approach, it is necessary to know his work in order to contribute to the pressing debate on the possibilities to overcome the capitalistic production relationships, a still pending debate since very long ago.
