Diferencias religiosas y forma política
Notas sobre La expulsión de la bestia triunfante
Abstract
The essay's central topic is the relationship between religion and politics following the Reformation in the Western World (16th century). The author studies why there were areas of Europe in which tolerance triumphed and others in which intolerance and absolutist governments predominated; the thesis developed, in historical and conceptual terms, is Voltaire's: discord is the great evil of humankind following the breakdown of religious unity in the 16th century, and tolerance is the only remedy. The paper provides solid arguments for interrelations between religion and government in the West, the consequences of which have an impact on independent Mexico.
