Diversidad migratoria en la ciudad de México, 1995-2000
Abstract
This article provides a descriptive analysis of data from the year 2000 population and housing census, highlighting a renewed dynamism in migration toward Mexico City (the Federal District and 40 conurbated municipalities of Mexico state) that resulted in near equilibrium in immigration to and emigration from the country's capital between 1995 and 2000. The states migrants came from and relocated to are compared, as are the demographic and socioeconomic characteristics of the immigrants, emigrants, and nonmigrants, revealing the great diversity of the population participating in these migratory flows.
