Abstract

Focused at the repudiation of Spinoza by the synagogue, his biography is webbed around the vision of the world of Judaism, the inquisition against marranos2 and the expulsion of his ancestors from Portugal. The atmosphere of the domineering religion –the Calvinism– in the Netherlands is revised. A framework with the historical-social momentum and the sociogeographical environment is established. His path through the field of physics, optics and his chemical experiments are analyzed. The discussions with philosophers whose scholar interests were similar is exposed. At last there is a glance of his internal world, his family and friends.
