Abstract

In this article can observe closely the stage of formation(training) of the expedition insurgent of Javier Mina carried out in Galveston's island, in Texas's north coast, near the American Louisiana, between November, 1816 and April, 1817. The abundant reports that the realistic authorities were arranging on this enclave allow to see with clarity his(her, your) importance for the insurgents of Mina for his(her, your) privileged strategic position, in land of nobody, with an easy communication with New Orleans, and that was so difficult for Spain to eradicate it due to Texas's gigantic extension and, especially, to the penury of his (her, your) material and military means. Equally, it(he,she) is going to give us the opportunity to observe all the problems which Javier Mina had to face not only in Galveston, with his(her, your) disagreements and lack(mistake) of authority, but also in New Orleans - that was nourishing Galveston of all his(her, your) needs-, refusing to Panzacola's capture, in the western Florida proposed by the own(proper) Anglo-Americans, and finding out about the news of the extension of the realistic domain(control) for the coasts of Veracruz, with the consequent alteration of his(her, your) initial plans. Finally, we will be able to observe the jealous measures of alertness that the principal realistic authorities put into practice on Texas's coasts to prevent the introduction and invasion of the above mentioned expedition, As well as the big inherent problems to be able to effect(to carry out) it with the minimal guarantees. Equally, there will be able to contemplate the final solution that the general Arredondo proposed to the viceroy Apodaca to end definitively with Galveston's enclave, and that consisted of a great plan combined by sea and land of troops and realistic noses.
