Estrategias de desarollo regional en México y Europa Central
En busca de nuevas dimensiones institucionales en el ocaso de la era neoliberal
Abstract
The main objective of this paper is to reflect about the dimensions of regional development in terms of space and institutional change in the late twentieth century in Mexico and Central Europe, period marked by the disenchantment of the strategies inspired in neo-liberal principles in both spaces. The first part deals with the possibility of analyzing the dimensions of regional development mainly in the perspective of neo-institutional economics (NIE). Then, we present certain advantages proposed by the methodological instruments of NIE in order to study the regional development in very different historical situations. After that, we insist on the importance of paying special attention to specific institutional contexts. Next section talks about the deepening of institutional change. Finally, we present the multiplicity of factors that come into play in the process of institutional transformation. Recognition of this multiplicity involves itself in proposing an agenda for future research in a comparative perspective.
