Abstract

This article uses the theoretical production about political communication and propaganda carried out in the 20th century. The aim is to rethink the current relationship between communication and democracy. Nowadays there is great a concern about falsehood. This is one of the reasons why the idea of “post-truth” was adopted. The concern over falsehood and censorship seems to be return to the concern of authors, who long ago reflected on the link between propaganda and authoritarian regimes. Furthermore, system analysis provided the bases to the theory of political communication and democracy. With these theoretical elements, a discussion on the existing communicational aspects that can currently stress democracy will be proposed.
