Abstract

In terms of social imaginary, the 15M movement represents a discontinuity in relation with the archetypical matrixes and metaphors of traditional social movements. This article compares the symbolic structures of the revolts of May ‘68 with those of the movement 15M, departing from the symbolic hermeneutics of Gilbert Durand. While the most libertarian May ‘68 faced the difficulties of sharing the same imaginary that the tradition from which they wanted to emancipate (Promethean revolution), the 15M movement has grounded its objectives, ways of acting and discourses to nowadays imaginaries, that exploded in the twenty-first century thanks to the proliferation of the internet and mobile devices (the Hermetian transformation).
