Abstract

This article analyzes the conditions in which Andrés Manuel López Obrador triumphed in the Mexican presidential elections in July 2018. An explanation of what the candidate called Fourth Transformation, and its differences with revolutionary and reformist processes. With this purpose, the First Transformation (Revolution of Independence 1810), the Second Transformation (the Reformation begun in 1857) and the Third Transformation (Mexican Revolution of 1910) are reviewed. Emphasis is placed on how they ended up in authoritarian and corrupt systems. The following is the scenario facing the new government to fight corruption and promote social equality. One of the difficulties is identified in the alliances of the movement (which is not split) with dissimilar political forces in terms of the ideological and his practice of corporate and authoritarian behavior.
