Algunos aspectos de la controversia entre investigación cualitativa e investigación cuantitativa

Abstract

This work argues that the evolution of logical empiricism within post-positivism has gradually erased the boundaries between qualitative and quantitative research. It is not clear, however, that the modern notion of causality be completely equivalent to interpretation. It is argued that attacks against qualitative research with regard to its lack of respect for the "principles of science" and its inability to generalize its findings are formulated on the basis of the logical model that underlies statistical inference. It is also argued that, by changing the focus and reconsidering these themes from the perspective of experimental statistics, such attacks fade away.
