Abstract
In this quite singular essay, Shottler offers an exemplary testimony of research in regard to a congress that never took place. For this reason it is particularly interesting to read of what could have happened. The Nazi German representatives to the Congress, headed by rural sociologist, Günter Ipsen, a key personality of German social sciences of the decade of the thirties, had to deal with Marc Bloch, who, having been invited by Dimitrie Gusti, through (perhaps) Henri Berr, had accepted immediately since that event was an opportunity to defend his most compromising critiques of Nazism ...
