Abstract

Marc Bloch's stay in Germany, where he went to complete his know¬ledge and to satiate his curiosity (desire to see, to know) caused, above all else, that his culture acquire the pluridiscipliarity that both his character and his work required. Toubert leaves behind the "Oslo invitation" as the origin of Caracteres originaux de I'histoire rurale française, and irrefutably states the genesis of this work. Caracteres is an outstanding work that condenses a whole wide range of ideas which had gone through an intense maturing process that, even today, constitute a valuable contribution in the discussion of the regions, the culture, the history.
