Through the bibliographic identification of the several dimensions that characterizes labour precarity and using analysis of conglomerates and multinomial econometrics, based on data from the National Survey of Occupation and Employment (2017), this paper present evidence of the existence of job insecurity conditions among a subset of the teaching staff employed in higher education institutions in Mexico. The results allow us to observe that there is a strong association between having a temporary contract or not having it, and the existence of precarious work conditions. In the most precarious conglomerate are localized the teachers without a contract, who, in addition to lacking social security, obtain the lowest income.
