Industrialización orientada a la exportación en México: 1988-1994
Abstract
The structural crisis of the model of industrializatiion substitutive of imports in 1982 reoriented the style of Mexico's economic orientation. Since then, with an environment of world econmic globaliza¬tion, the role assigned to the industrialization oriented towards exportation became relevant as an objective of the internal economic policy, because it represented not only the possibilities for the modernization but also for the specialization of the production for exportation, that would allow the attainment of better results in the commercial relations of the Mexican economy with the outside. Since 1983, the neoliberal sources of the economic policy incorporated this kind of strategy stressing especially the national manufacturing sector, first through adjustment policies (1983-1987) and later of stabilization (1988-1994). In this sense, supposing industrial modernization, the exporting manu¬facturing sector put itself as the supposed dynamic and pushing axis for the productive integration of the whole of the economic activity of the country. This work represents an effort to analyze some of the causes and consequences of the aforementioned, trying to consider about certain contradictions and limits of the model so designed.
