Abstract

This article criticizes the central aspects of classical theory of epidemiological transition, from a comparative historical perspective, in which it is questioned the legitimacy of comparisons made by Omran when he uses a time horizon to embrace more than three centuries, in which there has been radical transformations in practically all fields of knowl¬edge, including health sciences.
