Abstract

The objective of this article is to describe the process of metropolization and the levels of development of the south of the state of Hidalgo that has as particularity to develop under the influence of the megalopolis of Mexico City. The theoretical relevance of the processes of association among municipalities of metropolitan type to resolve problems in common is exposed and the legislation about metropolitan coordination of Hidalgo is analyzed, as well as the plans of development of the municipalities implied in processes of metropolization to exemplify the relevance of the interlocal cooperation to metropolitan development.

Doctor europeo en economía por la Universidad de Barcelona. Miembro del sistema nacional de investigadores (nivel candidato). Fue profesor investigador de la Universidad de Guadalajara, El Colegio de Jalisco y actualmente de El Colegio del Estado de Hidalgo.
